On August 12, the county announced that it is operating the "Customized Care Service for the Elderly," targeting vulnerable senior citizens in need of care.

At the Jangsu County Welfare Center for the Elderly and Disabled, which serves as the implementing agency, three dedicated social workers and 52 care support workers are conducting regular check-ins with approximately 830 seniors, either by phone or through home visits.

In particular, since August 1, as the heatwave has intensified, the county has designated 251 seniors as high-priority recipients among those enrolled in the Customized Care Service for the Elderly. Health monitoring for these individuals has been strengthened, and customized care services, including phone calls and home visits, are being provided even on weekends to frequently check on their health status.

Additionally, the county is supporting seniors by operating emergency safety and reassurance services and running cooling shelters at local senior centers, helping vulnerable elderly residents stay safe throughout the summer heat.

Choi Hunsik, the county governor, stated, "With the prolonged heatwave, we are especially concerned about the health of our seniors. We will further strengthen our comprehensive response system to ensure their safety during the heat, and we will do our utmost to make sure all seniors can have a safe summer."
