Held at Yeongdeok County Sports Complex on August 16
Postponed Due to Gyeongbuk Wildfire
Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province will host the 28th Yeongdeok Children’s Summer Festival at the Yeongdeok County Sports Complex on August 16, aiming to provide a venue for families to enjoy together during the summer vacation season.
This year’s event was originally scheduled for Children’s Day but was postponed due to the Gyeongbuk wildfire. Under the theme “ExcitinGO, EnjoyGO, TogetherGO,” the festival features play-centered programs designed to help the local community overcome the pain caused by the fire and foster intergenerational unity.
The festival site will be equipped with water play facilities such as water slides, a pool, and obstacle air bounce zones, creating spaces where children can play together. There will also be a “Starking” event, where children with talent and skills can showcase their abilities.
In preparation for the recent heatwave, Yeongdeok County has set up rest areas and deployed safety management personnel at key locations, ensuring the festival is operated in a comfortable and safe manner.
County Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, “Since this event was postponed due to a major wildfire, we have prepared it with great care so that it can be a special gift for children and their families. We will overcome the damage caused by the wildfire and prepare for a better future, so that the smiles of our children can brighten the community.”
