The Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism announced on August 12 that Hyo Myung has been appointed as President of the Buddhist Newspaper Corporation.
According to the Jogye Order, on the morning of the same day, Jinwoo, President of the Jogye Order, appointed Hyo Myung as the new president of the Buddhist Newspaper Corporation and requested, "At the forefront of Dharma propagation, I ask that you fully carry out the role and mission of our official newspaper, not only to inform our members but also to introduce Korean Buddhism and our order to the general public."
Hyo Myung was ordained in 1988 (Sramanera precepts) under the guidance of his teacher, Hyewon. He has served as the head monk of Hyewonjeongsa Temple in Busan, the head monk of Ssanggyesa Temple, the main temple of the 13th parish, and as a member of the 17th Central Council. He is currently serving as a member of the Jogye Order's Ordination Committee, President of BBS Busan Buddhist Broadcasting, and is also active as a member of the 18th Central Council.
