Flood Damage Reaches 15.1 Billion KRW
Morale Boost and Appreciation for All City Employees
Despite suffering extensive flood damage caused by record-breaking heavy rainfall, Naju City in South Jeolla Province has managed to turn a corner toward recovery through prompt measures, including the swift declaration of a special disaster zone, support for restoration efforts, and encouragement for public officials.
Naju City sustained damages amounting to 15.1 billion KRW due to the torrential rains that fell from July 16 to 20. Following its designation as a special disaster zone, the city is now applying for practical recovery benefits, including national government funding, tax deferrals, and electricity bill reductions.
In response, Mayor Byungtae Yoon held a meeting and provided snacks for all city employees to boost morale, as they have been exhausted by the ongoing recovery efforts.
During the meeting, the city created a forum for open communication, where officials could share on-site challenges and have their voices directly reflected in city policies.
This initiative was intended to express gratitude for the dedication of public officials who remained on the front lines and played a leading role in securing the special disaster zone designation.
Mayor Byungtae Yoon stated, "Your steadfast dedication and open communication were the driving forces behind Naju being designated as a special disaster zone. I sincerely thank you, and I hope we will continue to work together to do our utmost for the safety of our citizens and the recovery from the damage."
Currently, Naju City is accelerating recovery efforts and resident support based on its special disaster zone status, focusing its administrative resources on strengthening citizen-centered convenience and recovery systems.
