'2025 Wolyeong Night Tour'... 280,000 Enjoy Andong's Summer Nights '2025 Wolyeong Night Tour'... 280,000 Crowds Enjoyed Andong's Summer Night

The 'Wolyeong Night Tour,' Andong's signature nighttime event now in its eighth year, was held from August 1 to 10 around the Wolyeonggyo Bridge area, attracting approximately 280,000 visitors.

This year's event, themed 'Coexistence of Tradition and Modernity,' featured a diverse array of programs that reinterpreted national heritage in a modern way, captivating visitors even amid the heat and rain.

The most notable program was the 'Wolyeong Merchants (Wolyeongjangsu)' street performance, which involved 20 cultural and artistic figures. As a procession of Joseon-era merchants was recreated along the Folk Village Road to the Andong City Museum, visitors joined in traditional folk games and took commemorative photos, immersing themselves in the festive atmosphere.

The 'Dalgeurimja Guesthouse,' which recreated a Joseon-era marketplace, a picnic zone with a modern twist, and the food truck 'Yeongnak Restaurant' provided food and relaxation spaces, receiving positive responses from people of all ages.

Experience zones aimed at families were also packed with visitors. At 'Let's Play with National Heritage,' traditional games such as Andong Notdari Balgi, Chajeon Nori, and the 'Andongsamnulgi Swing,' inspired by Andongpo weaving, proved especially popular. The merchant street and the flea market 'Wolyeong Market' became hotspots where visitors could enjoy both shopping and hands-on experiences.

Cultural performances further heightened the festival's excitement. At Gaemoknaru and Seonseonghyeon Guesthouse, local arts groups presented the 'Summer Vibe' performance, adding romance to the summer nights. At Andong Imcheonggak, the historical drama 'The Sound of the Wind in Seogando,' depicting the independence movement, was staged for three days, leaving a deep impression on the audience.

This year's Wolyeong Night Tour combined nighttime content, food, and hands-on activities, resulting in an increase in overnight tourists. This is widely seen as having had a positive impact on the local economy.

An official from Andong City stated, "We will continue to develop Wolyeong Night Tour as a venue for experiencing national heritage and will keep discovering new content to firmly establish Andong as a destination for cultural tourism with extended stays." The official added, "We hope this festival will remain a special memory for all visitors."
