Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province announced on the 11th that it had successfully held the 7th Joryeho Lake Park Water Gun Festival on the 9th, despite rainy weather, with enthusiastic participation from citizens.
The festival was co-hosted by the Wangjo 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center and the Residents' Self-Governing Committee, and organized by the Wangjo 1-dong Youth Association. It was smoothly conducted with the support of approximately 130 members from local professional organizations and volunteers.
At the opening ceremony, Suncheon Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu attended and heightened the festive atmosphere by riding the giant slide and enjoying water gun games with children, actively engaging with citizens.
For the convenience of participants, the event venue was equipped with shaded areas and rest spaces. Medical support was provided through a medical booth operated by Suncheon Cheok Hospital to prepare for emergencies. The Suncheon Fire Station 119 Safety Center prepared programs to raise safety awareness among citizens by offering on-site safety education and CPR training.
Despite the inclement weather, the festival offered a variety of programs, including water gun games, family games, and various experience booths, creating a joyful summer festival for people of all ages.
A city official stated, "We are deeply grateful to the many citizens who participated despite the bad weather, and we will continue to prepare events where citizens can laugh and enjoy together."
