From Water Play to Sports, Hip-Hop, and Spicy Flavors... Heating Up the Summer Night
The city of Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do, announced on August 11 that the '2025 Miryang Super Festival,' held over three days from August 8 to 10 along the Miryang Riverside, concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from citizens and tourists.
This festival was hosted by the city of Miryang and organized by the Miryang Cultural Tourism Foundation (Chairman Ahn Byunggu) and the Miryang Sports Council (President Min Kyunggap). It was designed to complement the leisure sector, which had been lacking in the city's existing cultural tourism content, and to invigorate the region through experiential tourism.

During the festival, a water park equipped with medium and large water play structures and water slides, as well as cool shaded rest areas, operated for families, friends, and couples to cool off and relax from the summer heat.
In the 'Super Challenge Race,' participants in the elementary, general, and women's divisions competed in a time-attack race, navigating water obstacles. Cash prizes were awarded to the top finishers. This race was also available as a general experience program outside of official competition times, gaining significant popularity.
In the 'Super Nanjang - Miryang Showdown,' about 100 people per session, including pre-registered and on-site participants, took part in water gun battles held twice daily, creating refreshing summer memories.
In the evenings, the 'Hip-hop & Trot Arirang Contest' featured passionate hip-hop, exciting trot, and dazzling dance performances. Eight teams each in dance, hip-hop, and b-boying, as well as 15 teams in trot, took the stage after fierce preliminary rounds, competing intensely. Teams that received explosive responses from the audience were awarded the grand prize in each category.
Additionally, performances by popular singers such as Park Myungsoo, Ahn Seonghoon, Yang Donggeun, and Sleepy further heated up the summer night, as standing-room-only audiences filled the venue.

At a special ring set up along the Miryang Riverside, the 'Super Fight' kickboxing tournament featured professional championship and amateur matches, providing a unique spectacle for visitors. The 'Hot Miryang Food Festa' was also a hit, with local restaurants offering spicy dishes and a variety of menus. The event included a Buldak Bokkeummyeon Challenge, a Chimaek Zone with Cheogajip Yangnyeom Chicken paired with drinks such as Limonce, Terra, and Kelly, and about 10 food trucks, all of which increased visitor satisfaction.
Furthermore, the 'Lively Flea Market,' held in collaboration with the Gagok-dong Urban Regeneration Field Support Center, featured 18 teams presenting a variety of handmade crafts and experience booths, while a beautiful belly dance performance elevated the quality of the stage.
In addition, the festival included the 'Delivery Square' program in partnership with Miryang's public delivery app 'Ttaenggyeoyo,' as well as a 'Lodging Event,' making it a festival that provided practical support to local small business owners.
Mayor Ahn Byunggu stated, "I sincerely thank all the citizens and tourists who visited the Miryang Super Festival. I hope this festival became an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime memory during the hot summer in Miryang," adding, "We will continue to make Miryang an even more attractive tourist city by implementing tourism policies that reflect new trends and the needs of visitors."
