The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that at around 11 a.m. on the 11th, Kim Soonhwan, secretary general of the committee, was summoned and questioned as the complainant.

The police conducted the investigation for about one hour based on the complaint submitted by the committee.

Kim stated, "Because insult is a crime that requires a formal complaint from the victim, the police said they would like to hear the victim's opinion as well," and added, "Since the Ministry of Personnel Management handles the ethics of public officials and the head of the ministry is expected to uphold morality and ethics, we are calling for Choi's immediate resignation."

Previously, on the 1st, the committee filed a complaint against Choi, claiming that his remark in May 2020 referring to Lee Yongsoo, a victim of the Japanese military 'comfort women' system, as 'an X-trick to tarnish the Moon Jae-in administration,' in response to her raising allegations of embezzlement of donations by former lawmaker Yoon Meehyang and the Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance, constituted an insult.
