Joining Hands for the Healthy Growth and Welfare of Children
Seo-gu District of Gwangju (headed by Mayor Kim Ikang) and Yeongam-gun in Jeollanam-do (headed by Governor Woo Seunghee) have joined hands to promote the healthy growth and welfare of children.
On August 11, Seo-gu announced that it will run the 'Yeongam Gichan Land Experience Program' for two days until August 12, targeting 180 children from local community child centers.

This program is the first joint project pursued since the two local governments signed a friendship exchange agreement last year. It is significant in that it goes beyond simple administrative exchanges and realizes the shared values of promoting the healthy growth and welfare of children.
Participating children will enjoy water activities at Gichan Land, Yeongam's representative summer resort, and visit the Insect Museum, where they will directly observe various insects and ecological environments, allowing them to experience both learning and enjoyment. The district expects that these hands-on activities outside the city will provide the children with a unique break and meaningful memories.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, stated, "It is meaningful that the friendship agreement between local governments has led to tangible results for the children," and added, "We will continue to discover mutually beneficial models by linking local resources so that residents can truly feel the benefits."
Meanwhile, Seo-gu and Yeongam-gun are actively seeking ways to achieve mutually beneficial development in various fields, including administration, culture and tourism, and sports and welfare, based on their friendship exchange agreement.
