Gwangju City has taken active steps to support the growth of innovative youth-led companies.

On August 11, Gwangju City announced that it will provide up to 30 million won per company to a total of eight promising startups through the "2025 Youth Startup Company Technology Advancement Fund Support Project."

This year, the project has doubled its support scale compared to last year. A total of 43 companies competed, resulting in a highly competitive selection ratio of 6 to 1. After investment presentations and expert evaluations, eight companies were ultimately selected.

The selected companies possess innovative technologies in various fields, including optics, data management, artificial intelligence, and security. Notable companies include CandyOptics, which develops high-resolution optical lens modules; HumanRobot, a chatbot-based legal platform; and EcoPowder, which develops smart streetlights.

The support goes beyond simple funding and consists of a comprehensive growth assistance program, including customized investment consulting, marketing, and overseas expansion. Last year's supported companies achieved significant results, such as FDA registration, overseas export contracts, and doubling their sales.

Hong Nasoon, Director of Startup Promotion, stated, "We will continue to expand support so that youth startups in Gwangju can pursue technology-driven challenges," and added, "We will also work to foster an ecosystem where startups can become key players in the regional economy."
