Opinions Accepted Until September 8
Resident Briefing Session on August 27
Yongsan-gu in Seoul (headed by District Mayor Park Heeyoung) will hold a public inspection from August 8 to September 8 to gather residents' opinions on the 'Designation of the Cheonghwa Apartment Housing Reconstruction Maintenance Zone and Maintenance Plan (Draft)'. This procedure is a preliminary step to collect residents' feedback before moving forward with the reconstruction project.
The 'Cheonghwa Apartment Reconstruction' project was selected as a Fast-Track Advisory Project by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in October last year. Since then, it has undergone two rounds of preliminary consultation and review by the district office, and in June this year, the application for designation as a maintenance zone and the maintenance plan (draft) was submitted to the district office.
According to the draft plan, the project site covers 48,806 square meters, including the Cheonghwa Apartment complex and public land between the complex and Bogwang-ro. The plan calls for the development of a residential complex with a maximum height of 21 stories (below 90 meters above sea level), comprising a total of 679 apartment units.
The public inspection materials can be viewed at the Housing Department on the 7th floor of Yongsan-gu Office and at the office of the Association Establishment Promotion Committee. Opinions can be submitted in person, by registered mail, or through the Seoul City Urban Planning Portal. A resident briefing session will be held on August 27 at the Dream Room Theater on the 4th floor of the Yongsan Youth Center.
Cheonghwa Apartment, completed in 1982, currently consists of 10 buildings with 12 stories above ground and a total of 578 units. It is located in a prime area connecting the Hangang waterfront axis and the Namsan green axis. In the future, the site has great potential to develop into a landscape-specialized complex in connection with the Hannam Redevelopment Promotion Project, the development of the UN Command site, the creation of Yongsan Park, and the development of the Special Planning Zone for the Transport Unit site.
Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, "I hope Cheonghwa Apartment will be reborn as a landscape-specialized complex embracing Namsan and Yongsan Park, and I will actively support the smooth progress of the project."
