Harvard University Invests in BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF
$116 Million Investment Confirmed in SEC Filing
It has been confirmed that Harvard University in the United States has invested in a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF).
According to foreign media reports on August 10, Harvard Management Company revealed in a report submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that its holdings in BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) amount to 116 million dollars. This is approximately 160 billion Korean won.
Harvard Management Company is responsible for managing Harvard University's endowment. As of last year, Harvard's endowment was about 53.2 billion dollars. The fund is used for faculty and staff salaries, research support, and scholarships. The amount Harvard has invested in the Bitcoin ETF now represents the fifth-largest allocation in its investment portfolio.
