The Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation, under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, has accredited Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital, the only national general hospital in Sejong City, as an acute care hospital for the fourth cycle.


According to the hospital, it received accreditation with excellent results in the fourth-cycle acute care hospital accreditation survey conducted by the Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation, under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, over four days starting May 13, 2025, the hospital announced on August 8.


The accreditation system comprehensively evaluates the operation of medical institutions based on 512 assessment items, which are organized into 4 domains, 13 chapters, and 92 standards, to improve patient rights and safety, as well as the quality of medical services.


The hospital stated that it received excellent evaluations in all areas, including activities to ensure patient safety, delivery system and evaluation, patient care, medication management, quality improvement and patient safety activities, infection control, and facility and environmental management, thereby earning the medical institution accreditation. Having passed the rigorous standards of all 512 assessment items, the hospital will maintain its accreditation status as a certified medical institution by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for four years, until October 28, 2029.


Hospital Director Kwon Gyecheol stated, "Achieving accreditation is a valuable accomplishment made possible by the collective efforts of all hospital staff," and added, "We will continue to do our utmost to become an even safer and more trusted hospital for patients and the local community."
