Beomsik Hong, CEO of LG Uplus, Leads Communication Revolution
Leaves Daily Comments on Internal Platform
Over 6,700 Comments in Three Months
Fostering a Wave of Openness in the Traditionally Rigid Telecom Culture
"Jeonghee, you are truly reliable. Thank you."
Beomsik Hong, CEO of LG Uplus, is actively engaging in communication through the company's internal social platform 'TRIGO', bringing a wave of change to the traditionally rigid corporate culture of telecommunications companies. TRIGO, which began as an idea proposed at the town hall marking Hong's 100th day as CEO in March, officially launched in May and has been progressing smoothly with Hong's enthusiastic participation. It is said that Hong reads every post on TRIGO and personally leaves comments almost every day, continuing to encourage and communicate with employees.
According to LG Uplus, since May, there have been about 1,600 posts and as many as 6,700 comments on TRIGO. The topics are diverse, ranging from stories of field staff preventing customer losses to successful cases of interdepartmental collaboration, encouraging active participation from employees. Born in 1968 and having studied in the United States, Hong was appointed CEO in December last year. He previously built his career at global consulting firms such as Bain & Company and is known for placing a high value on communication.
A senior official at LG Uplus said on August 10, "Younger employees prefer activities in the form of social networking services (SNS), and we have operated the channel to reflect this trend well, resulting in lively and diverse discussions. With CEO Hong leaving comments whenever he has time and actively encouraging employees, the corporate atmosphere has become much more relaxed."
Recently, TRIGO has also been used as a space to share know-how on preventing additional damage, as cases of stopping voice phishing and smishing at various stores have been actively posted. Last month, a story about Shin Jeonghee, manager of the Bank Direct Branch of the Daejeon Retail Sales Team, who calmly responded to a minor customer being threatened after a hacking incident, became a hot topic on TRIGO.
Manager Shin quickly took action by checking for small payment blocks, monitoring unusual data usage, and verifying whether any additional mobile lines had been opened, thereby preventing further damage. In response, CEO Hong personally sent a short but heartfelt message of thanks to Manager Shin. In particular, TRIGO is increasingly serving as a communication channel that quickly spreads practical security response experiences company-wide.
TRIGO is being recognized not as a simple praise board, but as an internal communication platform that expands employees' insights, even though it has only been in operation for just over three months. An LG Uplus official noted, "CEO Hong personally comments on posts that stand out for their insights, suggesting ways these experiences could be applied to other departments, and this is creating positive change for everyone."
