Miryang City to Assess Crisis Management Capabilities... '2025 Eulji Exercise' to Be Conducted

From August 18 to 21
Strengthening Local Security Capabilities in the Event of a National Emergency

Miryang City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 8th that it will conduct the 2025 Eulji Exercise over four days and three nights, from August 18 to 21.

The Eulji Exercise is an annual government-level emergency preparedness drill conducted to protect the lives and property of the nation and its citizens in the event of war, incidents, or other national emergencies of a similar nature. The exercise aims to ensure proficiency in wartime mission procedures and to review and supplement emergency preparedness plans. It is held nationwide once a year.

This year's Eulji Exercise will include emergency recall training for public officials, wartime transition procedure drills, evacuation and relocation training for administrative agencies, counter-terrorism drills for key infrastructure, and civil defense evacuation drills in preparation for air raids.

On the second day of the exercise, August 19, a key infrastructure counter-terrorism drill will be conducted at the Miryang Water Purification Plant, simulating a drone terror attack by enemy special forces.

Approximately 150 participants from eight organizations and groups will take part in the drill, which aims to assess immediate response capabilities in wartime situations, verify the operation of collaborative systems, and ensure proficiency in action procedures.

In addition, on August 20 at 2 p.m., a civil defense evacuation and emergency vehicle operation drill in preparation for air raids will be conducted. For 20 minutes during the air raid warning, vehicle traffic will be restricted between Miryang Sports Complex and KT Intersection, and citizens must immediately evacuate to the nearest civil defense shelter. If there is no shelter nearby, citizens should evacuate to a safe underground space. The locations of shelters can be checked via the Safety Stepping Stone app, as well as on private platforms such as Naver Map and T Map.

Mayor Ahn Byunggu stated, "With tensions on the Korean Peninsula rising due to North Korea's continued provocations, we will do our utmost to ensure this exercise is substantial and meaningful, enabling us to respond proactively to the changing security environment and to raise citizens' security awareness."
