The Educational Development Special Zone pilot project is a core national balanced development policy of the Ministry of Education. It comprehensively supports educational innovation, local talent development, and the creation of residential ecosystems through cooperation among local governments, education offices, universities, companies, and public institutions.

Four counties, including Boseong, Goheung, Wando, and Jindo, were finally selected as Educational Development Special Zones following the Ministry of Education's re-evaluation of preliminary pilot areas. The counties will receive up to 3 billion KRW per year through special grants and the Special Account for National Balanced Development.

Boseong County's educational development strategy consists of four main strategies and 24 detailed projects: establishing a community-based care system, improving the public education environment, promoting glocal educational innovation for regional coexistence, and creating a residential ecosystem based on local resources. Through these, the county plans to pursue educational innovation tailored to local characteristics and foster sustainable talent development.

In particular, the county will strengthen specialized education for the agricultural and bio-industries and the cultivation of future talent. It will also focus on building a cooperative system among local governments, education offices, universities, and industries to lay the foundation for retaining local talent.
