Cho Kyungtae Urges Kim Moonsoo to Withdraw Candidacy for Clinging to Yoon

Calls for Kim to Withdraw Candidacy and Retire from Politics
"Remarks on Yoon's Reinstatement Cross the Line"

On August 8, Representative Cho Kyungtae, who is running for the next leadership of the People Power Party, urged former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moonsoo to withdraw his candidacy for party leader and retire from politics.

At an emergency press conference held at the National Assembly that day, Representative Cho stated, "I am standing here today because I am utterly unable to tolerate or accept the remarks made by candidate Kim Moonsoo, which have left me deeply appalled."

The previous day, former Minister Kim participated in the "Liberty Conservative Alliance Debate," co-hosted by conservative YouTubers Jeon Hangil and Ko Sunguk, where he said, "Did anyone die or get hurt because former President Yoon Sukyeol declared martial law?" and added, "If former President Yoon wishes to rejoin the party, of course we should accept him."

In response, Representative Cho criticized, "Do you not realize how many people were left in fear and how many were emotionally scarred?" and added, "Even mentioning the reinstatement of former President Yoon crosses a line that should not be crossed."

He continued, "Are you suggesting that as long as no one dies, it is acceptable for anyone to declare martial law?" and questioned, "Does this mean that even if the Lee Jaemyung administration were to declare an unconstitutional and illegal martial law, it would be acceptable?"

He further criticized, "It is pitiful to see someone willing to do anything just to become party leader," and added, "Kim Moonsoo, who clings to the ousted former President Yoon, should not become the heart of conservatism or even a candidate for the People Power Party."
