The musical 'The Great Gatsby' is an adaptation of the classic novel of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald, a representative American novelist of the 20th century. Producer Shin Chunsoo first presented 'The Great Gatsby' in the heart of the global theater scene, Broadway in New York. Preview performances began at the Broadway Theatre on March 29, 2023, and the official opening followed about a month later on April 25. 'The Great Gatsby' has continued its long run for over a year, receiving an enthusiastic response from local audiences on Broadway. In April 2024, 'The Great Gatsby' also opened in London’s West End and is currently being performed there. With its opening in Seoul, the musical is now being staged simultaneously in three countries: Korea, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

The musical 'The Great Gatsby' reinterprets the solid narrative of the original novel in a modern way, tailored to the musical format. While the original novel unfolds solely from the perspective of the narrator, Nick Carraway, the musical presents the story through the viewpoints of various characters such as Daisy Buchanan, Jordan Baker, Myrtle Wilson, Tom Buchanan, George Wilson, and Wolfsheim. This approach draws empathy from the audience and enhances immersion.

The beautiful musical numbers and music enchant the audience throughout the performance, while the ensemble dances?incorporating genres such as Charleston, jazz, voguing, and tap?capture attention from start to finish. The dazzling stage, featuring high-resolution LED visuals, perfectly recreates the jazz era of the 1920s at its peak of prosperity. The sophisticated costumes, which won the Tony Award for Best Costume Design last year, along with lighting that makes them shine even more brilliantly, further enhance the splendor of the stage.

Additionally, Jenna De Waal plays Myrtle Wilson, Wes Williams plays Tom Buchanan, Tally Sessions plays George Wilson, and Ed Staudenmayer plays Wolfsheim, all demonstrating their extensive Broadway experience and stage presence.
