Controversy Over Lee's Statement: "Sexual Minorities to Account for Over 30% in Public Institutions"
Jeon Hansang, a former Korean history instructor and current YouTuber, has been reported to the authorities on charges of spreading false information with the intent to defeat Lee Jaemyung, then-presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, ahead of the June 3 presidential election.

The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul summoned Jeon on the afternoon of the 7th for questioning on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act (spreading false information). On May 7, Jeon uploaded a video titled "Lee Jaemyung, Enacting an Anti-Discrimination Law Requiring 30% Sexual Minorities to Be Hired by Public Institutions" to his YouTube channel 'Jeon Hansang News.' The video included footage of President Lee, during his tenure as mayor of Seongnam in 2017, stating, "I will ensure that so-called sexual minorities account for at least 30% in public institutions or financial institutions."
On the 28th of the same month, the Democratic Party reported Jeon to the police, alleging a violation of the Public Official Election Act for publishing false information with the intent to defeat a candidate, stating, "The remark in question was actually referring to ensuring that women, as a socially marginalized group, could account for more than 30%."
