Departments Specialized in Semiconductors and Bio Industries to Be Established
Early Employment Opportunities Linked with Chungnam Companies
Up to 12 Million Won Settlement Support Fund Available After Graduation
Sangmyung University Cheonan Campus, with support from South Chungcheong Province, will establish two new early employment contract-based departments starting next year: the Department of Smart IT Convergence Engineering and the Department of Bio Food Tech.
According to Sangmyung University on August 8, the early employment contract-based departments offer a practice-oriented, customized education model. Students receive full tuition scholarships, participate in corporate internships before graduation, are connected to employment after graduation, and can receive a settlement support fund of up to 12 million won.
Students in these departments can earn a regular bachelor's degree by completing 120 credits over three years (six semesters). First-year students take classes at the university, while from the second year onward, they receive project-based practical training at partner companies.
If graduates work for two years at a partner company in the South Chungcheong region after graduation, they are also eligible to receive the 12 million won settlement support fund.
For the 2026 academic year early admission, 30 students will be recruited for the Department of Smart IT Convergence Engineering and 25 students for the Department of Bio Food Tech, in addition to the regular quota.
Anyone who has graduated (or is expected to graduate) from high school or holds an equivalent qualification is eligible to apply, and there is no minimum College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) score requirement. In the first stage, applications are evaluated 100% based on documents, while in the second stage, the final selection is made based on 90% interview and 10% documents.
The Department of Smart IT Convergence Engineering aims to nurture talent specialized in the semiconductor, display, and mobility industries, which are strategic industries in the South Chungcheong region. The curriculum covers system control, device modeling, robotics, and autonomous driving technologies. Partner companies include Nexplus Co., Ltd., Hoimyung Industry Co., Ltd., and Hanyang Robotics Co., Ltd.
The Department of Bio Food Tech focuses on training practical talent for the bio industry, including food, pharmaceuticals, and animal feed. The curriculum centers on bio fundamentals, pharmaceutical processes, food processing, and smart factory education. Partner companies include Boram Bio Co., Ltd., Person Co., Ltd., and SS Bio Pharm Co., Ltd.
A Sangmyung University representative stated, "Through close-knit education with local companies in the South Chungcheong region, we aim to nurture young talent who will settle in the region, while providing companies with customized talent, creating a mutually beneficial model."
