Upcoming Releases in the Second Half Include Anticipated Titles Like "Vampire" and "MonGil"
Netmarble announced on the 7th that its consolidated operating profit for the second quarter of this year was provisionally tallied at 101.1 billion KRW, a 9.1% decrease compared to the same period last year.
During the same period, sales amounted to 717.6 billion KRW, down 8.2% year-on-year, while net profit was 160.2 billion KRW, a decrease of 1.3%. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) stood at 131.1 billion KRW.
Looking at the cumulative results for the first half of this year, Netmarble recorded 1.3415 trillion KRW in sales and 150.8 billion KRW in operating profit. Compared to the first half of last year, sales decreased by 1.9%, while operating profit increased by 31.2%.
Overseas sales in the second quarter were 473.7 billion KRW, a 19.8% decrease year-on-year. Netmarble explained that this was a relative effect resulting from the growth in sales in the Korean market. Overseas sales accounted for 66% of total sales in the second quarter.
By country, the sales breakdown for the second quarter was as follows: North America 35%, Korea 34%, Europe 12%, Southeast Asia 7%, Japan 6%, and others 6%. By genre, the breakdown was: RPG 42%, casual games 33%, MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) 18%, and others 7%. As sales in the Korean market grew, sales from RPG titles also increased.
Both sales and operating profit increased compared to the previous quarter. This was due to the full-quarter contribution from "RF Online Next" and the launch of "Seven Knights Rebirth." However, compared to the same period last year, a negative base effect was observed due to the launch of "Solo Leveling: ARISE."
Netmarble plans to release seven new titles in the second half of this year, starting with the launch of "Vampire" on August 26, followed by "King of Fighters AFK," "Stone Age: Pet World," "MonGil: Star Dive (STAR DIVE)," "Project SOL," "The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin," and "Solo Leveling: ARISE Overdrive."
Kim Byung-kyu, CEO of Netmarble, said, "The consecutive success of RF Online Next and Seven Knights Rebirth released in the first half, along with leverage effects from improved cost structure, have led to simultaneous growth in both scale and profitability. In the second half, we will strive for further growth compared to the first half through the effects of new releases and globally launched games."
