"Taiwanese Harmony Resonates in Gijang"... Gijang County Hosts 14th National Recorder Festival

Taiwanese Youth Join Hands to Open New Horizons in Cultural Exchange

Busan Gijang County has created a festival stage connecting Korea and the world through the recorder, aiming to broaden the base of youth culture and arts in the region.

Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on August 7 that it hosted the "14th Gijang National Recorder Festival" on August 2 at the Chasung Art Hall in Gijang County Office.

This festival, organized by the Gijang Youth Recorder Ensemble (Director Park Seungyoung), broke away from the conventional competition-centered format. Instead, all participating teams stayed together at the Gijang Culture Etiquette School, collaborating to complete joint performances through group training. This approach not only showcased musical skills but also delivered a message of mutual exchange and harmony.

This year's stage featured four domestic and international teams: the Busan Youth Recorder Ensemble, the Yongin Riconuri Ensemble, the Tainan City Sanchun Elementary School Recorder Team from Taiwan, and the Gijang Youth Recorder Ensemble including honorary members. In addition, the Dream Kids Choir participated. The members broke down team boundaries, performed together on stage, freely expressed their cultural sensibilities, and opened a space for communication.

An official from the county stated, "This festival has become an opportunity to expand the global arts network through cultural exchange among youth," adding, "Its status as a representative youth cultural event in the region has been further elevated."

A representative from the Gijang Youth Recorder Ensemble also commented, "It was a meaningful time as youth from all over the country became united through music," and evaluated the event as "an important stage for expanding the scope of Gijang County's culture and arts."

The Gijang Youth Recorder Ensemble is scheduled to participate in the "Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival" to be held in Jeju on August 8, where they will once again present a beautiful harmony.
