Three minutes before the reciprocal tariffs took effect at 12:01 a.m. on the 7th (local time), which corresponds to 1:01 p.m. Korean time, President Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, "It's midnight! Billions of dollars in tariffs are now pouring into the United States!"
Beginning on this day, the Trump administration started imposing reciprocal tariffs ranging from 10% to 41% on products exported from countries around the world. The tariff rate for South Korea is 15%.
About 15 minutes before the tariffs took effect, he also stated, "Reciprocal tariffs go into effect at midnight today!" and added, "Billions of dollars will flow in from countries that have mocked and taken advantage of the United States for years." He continued, "The only thing that can stop America's greatness is the radical left courts that hope our country fails!"
