On August 7, Jeonnam Hampyeong County announced that it is launching emergency quarantine activities to prevent secondary damage to livestock farms affected by heavy rain.
The county determined that the heavy rainfall caused large volumes of rainwater and soil to flow into livestock barns, significantly increasing the risk of livestock infectious diseases, and therefore immediately implemented a quarantine system.
Hampyeong County has urgently deployed a total of five pieces of equipment, including its own quarantine vehicles and joint control vehicles from Hampyeong Livestock Cooperative, to carry out intensive disinfection and livestock disease monitoring activities, focusing on the affected farms.
In addition, the county is strengthening on-site response by carrying out environmental maintenance of flooded barns and providing guidance on quarantine regulations.
Furthermore, the county plans to maintain a constant supply of quarantine materials in preparation for additional rainfall, and will continue to provide advance guidance and preventive measures whenever heavy rain is forecast.
Lee Sangik, Governor of Hampyeong County, stated, "We are thoroughly implementing quarantine measures to prevent livestock infectious diseases so that livestock farms, which have suffered greatly from the heavy rain, can recover stably without secondary damage," and added, "We also ask that farmers actively participate by strengthening their own hygiene management inside and outside the barns and strictly following quarantine regulations."
