Three Historical Musicals to Commemorate 80th Anniversary of Liberation... Performance at National Museum of Korea on August 15

This performance is designed to reflect on the historical significance of Liberation together with visitors. It will feature a gala concert format, reinterpreting three historical musicals previously staged at Theater Yong: "Shinheung Military Academy" (2018), "Watch" (2019), and "Baekbeom" (2020).

The cast includes Yang Junmo, lead actor from the musical "Hero," and Lee Jisoo, lead actress from "Rebecca." In addition, music director Won Misol from "Jekyll and Hyde," writer Jang Woosung from "Baekbeom," and director Jung Taeyoung from "The Devotion of Suspect X" will participate, promising to deliver a moving and resonant experience for the audience. The event will be hosted and narrated by historian Sim Yonghwan, who will help enhance the audience's understanding by providing explanations about the historical background and figures featured in the works.

A museum official stated, "This special performance is a meaningful occasion to celebrate both the 80th anniversary of Liberation and the 20th anniversary of the National Museum of Korea's relocation to Yongsan. We hope it will serve as a valuable opportunity to demonstrate that the museum is establishing itself as a cultural platform that engages with the public, beyond simply being a space for artifact exhibitions."

This performance at the Museum Open Yard will be free of charge for all seats and admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis from 6:00 p.m. on the day of the event, without prior reservation. For inquiries regarding the performance, please contact the National Museum Foundation customer center.
