Daejeon to Host "Treasure Hunt in the Old Downtown" Project Again
Experience Local Culture and Attractions with Citizens and Creators
Various Programs Including Visit-Based and Experience-Based Activities During the 0 o'clock Festival

"Enjoy the Daejeon 0 o'clock Festival and Join the Treasure Hunt"

The "Treasure Hunt in the Old Downtown" project, which received an enthusiastic response last year with over 23,000 participants and early registration closure, will once again be held in the old downtown area during the "Daejeon 0 o'clock Festival" period this year.

This program is a participatory project where local creators and citizens experience and document the culture and attractions of Daejeon together. It was organized to revitalize the old downtown and promote local culture.

The program will run from August 8 to 16, in collaboration with local creators at Commonsfield Daejeon (formerly the old Chungnam Provincial Government building) and throughout the old downtown area.

This project is divided into two types: visit-based and experience-based programs. The visit-based program involves exploring major attractions such as specialized streets, modern architectural buildings, and the famous bakery Seongsimdang in the old downtown, with participants receiving souvenirs by posting proof on social media.

The experience-based program consists of a total of eight activities, including: making personalized fans and handkerchiefs using Kkumssi; brewing traditional Daejeon liquor; making Kkumdori croffles; creating Kkumssi lanterns, keyrings, clocks, and eco-bags; and producing "My Own Daejeon Story" digital camera poetry postcards (a blend of digital camera and poetry). These programs are operated by eight teams of local creators active in Daejeon.

Jeon Jaehyun, Director of the Daejeon City Administration and Autonomy Bureau, stated, "This project is highly popular among visitors from outside the city as it offers opportunities to experience Daejeon's unique history and culture. We hope that, once again this year, citizens and local creators will rediscover the value of Daejeon together through a variety of experiences."

Meanwhile, at 4 p.m. on August 8, the opening day of the 0 o'clock Festival, a "calligraphy performance" wishing for the festival's success will take place on the road in front of Seongsimdang. Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo, Jeong Taehee, Director of the Daejeon Calligraphy Promotion Institute, and calligrapher Park Yangjun will use a large brush to create a performance featuring the festival's slogan.
