Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency Selects Two Operators for Small Manufacturer Multi-Support Centers

The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency has selected the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency and the Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the final operators for the project to expand and establish multi-support centers for small manufacturers.

The Small Manufacturer Multi-Support Center is a shared support facility established in areas densely populated with small manufacturers in the same industry. It creates an environment where small manufacturers can jointly utilize expensive specialized equipment and receive practical technical training.

The Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency, which was selected this time, will support the food manufacturing cluster in Sangdaewon-dong, Seongnam-si. The Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry will support the metal product manufacturing cluster in Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong-si.

The two selected institutions will each receive up to 300 million won in project funding. The main project components include: establishing smart manufacturing shared equipment, providing equipment utilization training and technical consulting, forming small manufacturer networks, and supporting the establishment of cooperatives.

Including this project, the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency plans to sequentially establish a total of eight Small Manufacturer Multi-Support Centers by 2026. Each center will operate customized equipment and programs tailored to the region's key industries. In particular, based on future evaluation results, the agency plans to consider further equipment upgrades and additional support for outstanding centers.

Kim Hyungon, President of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, stated, "The 170,000 small manufacturers, who account for 87% of manufacturing businesses in Gyeonggi-do, are the core foundation of the regional industrial ecosystem," and added, "We will actively support the Multi-Support Centers so that they can become practical hubs leading the digital transformation and technological innovation of small manufacturers."
