Check Real-Time Popular Channels
Enhanced Voice Search Function
On August 7, LG Uplus announced that it has completely revamped the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of its IPTV service 'U+tv' to enhance the convenience of real-time channel navigation. This update has been applied sequentially since July and is expected to be expanded to all customers within the year.
LG Uplus initiated this overhaul based on user complaints received through its own Viewer Committee. According to a survey conducted by the Viewer Committee last year, users pointed out that it was difficult to access convenience features while using real-time channels and that it took a long time to find desired content. In fact, LG Uplus reports that 80% of all U+tv viewers primarily use real-time channels.
In response, LG Uplus has consolidated key real-time channel features into a single location accessible via the 'Option' button on the remote control. Customers can now easily use features such as eye protection, parental controls, favorite channel mode, setting favorite or hidden channels, viewing the real-time schedule or all channels, and watching two channels, four channels, or channels by genre simultaneously, simply by pressing the 'Option' button while watching a real-time channel.
The voice recognition feature has also been enhanced. By pressing the microphone button at the top of the program guide and speaking the desired content, the system automatically finds the real-time channel currently broadcasting that content.
Additionally, new features have been introduced, such as 'Channel at a Glance,' which allows customers to view all channels available under their current subscription plan and the programs currently airing on those channels, and the 'Popular Channels' menu, which displays real-time popular channels in order of viewership.
Through this update, LG Uplus aims to reduce the time customers spend searching for content and to improve the overall viewing experience. The company plans to continue enhancing the quality of its IPTV service by reflecting feedback collected through the Viewer Committee.
Jung Jini, Head of Media Business Tribe at LG Uplus, stated, "This update is a customer-centric change aimed at creating the 'easiest TV to use,'" and added, "We will continue to evolve to provide the best customer experience possible."
