Gangbukgu Presents Passport Cases Featuring Local Symbols to Residents Receiving Passports

Seoul's Gangbukgu District (District Mayor Lee Soonhee) is presenting passport cases featuring symbols of Gangbukgu to residents who receive their passports.

The recently introduced next-generation passport with an embedded electronic chip requires extra care to prevent external damage. In response, Gangbukgu has produced passport cases designed to both securely protect the electronic chip and reflect the district's identity, providing them to residents upon passport issuance.

The front exterior of the passport case features azaleas, pine trees, and magpies arranged harmoniously to evoke a distinctly Korean image. The azalea symbolizes strong vitality and simplicity, the pine tree represents integrity, patience, and steadfastness, and the magpie is regarded as a bird of good fortune that brings good news. The back of the case displays the Gangbukgu emblem and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Call Center contact information, adding practicality.

The design is also practical, with open top and bottom edges for easy passport access. Inside, there are pockets for storing cards or boarding passes, enhancing user convenience.

The district has produced and distributed passport cases in both 2023 and 2024. This year, in response to continued positive feedback, Gangbukgu plans to distribute the cases on a first-come, first-served basis to residents who receive their passports at the Gangbukgu District Office.

Additionally, the Gangbukgu District Office website and social networking services (SNS) provide a QR code for passport issuance guidance, which can be accessed anytime and anywhere. This allows residents to easily check essential information?such as application procedures, required documents, and photo specifications?through step-by-step images.

Lee Soonhee, Mayor of Gangbukgu District, stated, "With overseas travel on the rise, we have prepared a practical passport case that not only allows residents to store their passports safely and conveniently but also embodies Gangbukgu's unique identity. We will continue to pursue attentive administration that residents can truly experience."
