Applications accepted until August 29
460,000 won activity subsidy per hectare
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province is accepting applications for the second half of the year for its "Low-Carbon Farming Support Project" until August 29.
According to the city on August 6, this project was launched to address the climate crisis and realize sustainable agriculture. It provides activity subsidies to farmers who participate in agricultural practices that reduce carbon emissions.
The low-carbon agriculture program mainly targets "autumn plowing," which involves mixing rice stubble or straw residue into the soil after harvesting. Participating farms will receive 460,000 won per hectare as an activity subsidy.
Eligible applicants are rice paddies that receive the basic public direct payment for the current year and cultivate rice. Participation is possible through agricultural corporations or producer organizations on a scale of 20 hectares or more.
Individual farmers must apply as part of an eligible corporation or organization.
Agricultural corporations or producer organizations wishing to participate should submit their applications in person at the Agricultural Policy Division of the Agricultural Technology Center at their local city hall.
A city official stated, "Low-carbon farming activities play an important role in responding to the climate crisis and preserving the rural environment," and added, "We hope to create a sustainable agricultural and rural environment together through the active participation of farmers."
