Muan County in South Jeolla Province is making every effort to conduct emergency special quarantine measures to prevent the spread of secondary infectious diseases, focusing on areas affected by recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

The county announced on August 6 that, as record-breaking torrential rains have caused widespread flooding and damage to homes, it is strengthening infectious disease prevention measures, particularly in flooded areas and temporary shelters for displaced residents.

The Muan County Public Health Center has deployed eight quarantine response teams to the flood-affected areas, conducting intensive disinfection activities in hygiene-vulnerable locations. These measures include insecticide and sterilization disinfection for each household, as well as environmental cleanup of the surrounding areas.

In addition, regular disinfection is being carried out both inside and outside temporary shelters for displaced residents, as well as in shared spaces. The county has also distributed infectious disease prevention supplies such as insect repellents and hand sanitizers. Given that summer conditions can easily worsen sanitary environments, efforts are being focused on preventing the breeding of vector insects such as mosquitoes.

Furthermore, the county is operating an infectious disease response system that includes daily health monitoring of displaced residents. If anyone exhibits symptoms such as fever or diarrhea, immediate epidemiological investigations are launched.

Kim San, the mayor of Muan County, stated, "We will thoroughly manage not only the flooded areas but also the hygiene within temporary shelters to minimize secondary health damage." He added, "If there are households or villages in need of emergency quarantine, please contact the Infectious Disease Control Team at the Muan County Public Health Center, and we will respond promptly."
