This was thanks to the 'Ya Uljin' program, a nighttime tourism initiative launched by Uljin County, North Gyeongsang Province, aimed at increasing the length of stay for summer tourists and utilizing unique nightscapes and nighttime resources.

The program, which ran from July 29 to August 3, filled Uljin’s nights with excitement, coolness, and splendor, receiving an enthusiastic response from family visitors.

Let’s take a look at the stories from the six nights that left visitors to Uljin with a variety of experiences and lingering memories.

Among the 'Ya Uljin' programs, the extended nighttime operation of tourist attractions received particularly positive feedback. Attractions such as the Wangpicheon Park cable car, the aquarium, the ground fountain, Seongnyugul Cave, the National Uljin Marine Science Museum, the Bongpyeong-ri Silla Stele Exhibition Hall, Seongnyugul Cave, the Freshwater Fish Ecology Experience Center, and the Yacht School all extended their hours into the night, giving tourists the chance to experience the unique atmosphere of Uljin after dark.

In particular, the Wangpicheon cable car attracted over 1,200 visitors in just three hours after 6 p.m., demonstrating its popularity. The nighttime yacht experience also received high praise from tourists for offering a different charm compared to daytime activities.

For those who missed out, the Yacht School extended its nighttime yacht experience for an additional week after the 'Ya Uljin' period, providing more opportunities for visitors to participate.

In addition, many tourists flocked to indoor attractions where they could escape the hot and humid weather. Family tourists with children commented that they were able to enjoy water activities at the beach during the day and sightseeing at night, making for a fulfilling holiday.

The 'Marketsum' event, held at the Wangpicheon Park food court, was especially lively, with over 3,000 people visiting in six days to enjoy pork barbecue, potato pancakes, chicken skewers, and other dishes, as well as menus popular with children.

During the 'Ya Uljin' period, screams and laughter coexisted throughout Uljin. Every night for six days, Uljin County staff dressed up as ghosts and grim reapers, appearing at various tourist spots. This event generated the most laughter and photo opportunities among visitors.

Some children even showed great enthusiasm by traveling across all the nighttime attractions in search of encounters with the ghosts, creating unique memories for family tourists.

In addition to the extended hours at tourist attractions and a variety of tourism programs, new nighttime lighting has recently been installed along the Wolsongjeong Premium Barefoot Walking Trail, as well as from Euneo Bridge to the pine forest in Wangpicheon Park, creating new spots where visitors can enjoy the night scenery while taking a stroll.

Going forward, Uljin County plans to continue developing a sustainable foundation for nighttime tourism and discovering new content to make Uljin a place where tourists want to stay longer.

County Governor Son Byeongbok said, "I am grateful that so many people enjoyed the nighttime tourism program, which was launched for the first time this year. We plan to continue creating tourism programs themed around the seasons," adding, "The beaches will remain open until August 24, so I hope many people will visit Uljin County for the rest of the summer."
