Automatically Generating In-Depth Interview Questions
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province has made a bold move by introducing an artificial intelligence (AI) system into its public official recruitment process.
On August 6, the city announced that it had implemented an AI competency assessment for the first time in this year's recruitment of new public officials, applying it to 82 candidates who passed the written portion of the first open competitive recruitment examination this year.
This assessment analyzes candidates' personalities and aptitudes using AI technology to determine their suitability for public service. It also generates customized interview questions automatically, which will be used in future in-depth interviews.
The results of the assessment will be used not only in interviews but also in assigning positions to new officials. Osan City plans to expand the use of AI across all aspects of personnel management, including employee analysis and identifying characteristics of high performers, beyond just recruitment.
The city aims to establish an efficient HR system by building a data-driven decision-making framework that covers talent selection, placement, and development through the introduction of AI.
Lee Gwonjae, Mayor of Osan, stated, "This introduction of AI is the first example of the personnel innovation we are pursuing," adding, "We will continue to incorporate AI technology into various fields of administration so that citizens' lives can become more convenient and enriched."
