Samsung Electro-Mechanics Included in FTSE4Good for 15 Consecutive Years... Recognized as an ESG Model Company

UK ESG Evaluation Index
High Scores in All ESG Areas
Including Water Resource and Supply Chain Management

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been included in the FTSE4Good Index, a global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation index, for 15 consecutive years.


On August 6, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced that it has been listed on the FTSE4Good Index for 15 consecutive years since 2011. This marks the longest inclusion record in the domestic electronic components industry.


FTSE4Good is a specialized ESG evaluation index jointly created by the Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange in the United Kingdom. It assesses over 300 items in the areas of environment, society, and governance, and annually announces outstanding companies.


In this year's evaluation, Samsung Electro-Mechanics received high scores in all areas of environment (E), society (S), and governance (G). In particular, the company was highly rated for its water resource management, supply chain management, and corporate governance.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics is gradually expanding water reuse facilities both domestically and internationally to improve water resource management and increase water reuse rates in its manufacturing processes. In addition, the company is working to strengthen supply chain competitiveness through various programs such as joint technology development with partners, support for co-prosperity funds, and the operation of a win-win academy, in order to foster a sustainable corporate ecosystem.


In the area of governance, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has maintained a ratio of female outside directors on its board at over 50%, and has appointed an outside director as the chair of the board, thereby enhancing the independence and transparency of board decision-making.


Jang Deokhyun, CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, stated, "Our responsible decisions create valuable growth," and added, "We will internalize sustainable management by minimizing environmental impact, spreading a culture of mutual respect, and managing safe workplaces, to become a trusted company."

These efforts have also been recognized through various external evaluations. Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been included in the 'DJBIC World Index' for 16 consecutive years, the first in Korea; was the first in the industry to receive Carbon Trust's 'Carbon Footprint' certification; received the CDP Korea Award; and achieved 'Zero Waste to Landfill' certification at all domestic and overseas sites, thereby practicing ESG management.
