Ourhome, which has become an affiliate of Hanwha Group, is reportedly considering acquiring the group catering business of Shinsegae Food.
According to industry sources on August 5, Shinsegae Food is in discussions with Ourhome to sell assets related to its group catering business.
Shinsegae Food is known as the fifth largest company in the domestic group catering market. The group catering business of Shinsegae Food is classified under its manufacturing and service division. In the first quarter, this division, which includes not only group catering but also dining-out services (No Brand Burger) and bakery operations, accounted for 38% of the company's sales (353.7 billion KRW).
On this day, Shinsegae Food announced in a regulatory filing, "We are reviewing various strategic options, including strengthening our business structure and business cooperation, to enhance our business competitiveness," but also stated, "Nothing has been specifically decided yet."
Ourhome also stated, "We are reviewing various options to enhance our brand competitiveness," but added, "Nothing has been confirmed."
Previously, in May, Hanwha Group acquired Ourhome through Hanwha Hotels & Resorts.
