Jeonnam Province held a progress briefing session to ensure the successful hosting of the '2025 Kim Dae-jung Peace Conference,' which will take place in Mokpo in September.

On August 5, at Seojaepil Hall in the provincial government building, the session reviewed the main progress in each area, including the composition of various programs and promotional strategies.

Approximately 20 people attended, including Jeonnam Governor Kim Youngrok, Kim Dae-jung Peace Center board member Baek Haksoon, as well as members of the organizing and executive committees.

The Kim Dae-jung Peace Conference is an international event that seeks to explore peaceful international relations based on the spirit of Kim Dae-jung amid rapidly changing global circumstances and to establish a sustainable global peace network. This year marks its third edition. It will be held in Mokpo for three days from September 24, under the theme 'A New Vision of Symbiotic Peace for the World and the Korean Peninsula.'

This year's academic conference will feature a keynote speech by James Robinson, a world-renowned scholar and the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics laureate from the University of Chicago, on the topic of 'Peace Economy: Strategies for the World and the Korean Peninsula.' Kim Jeongho, a leading authority in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) from KAIST, will deliver a special lecture.

Cultural events will include the 'Kim Dae-jung Peace Concert,' which delivers a message of peace through art, and the 'Talk Concert for People Who Respect DJ,' which revisits stories from President Kim Dae-jung's era and builds a sense of connection with people in their 20s and 30s.

In addition, a Peace Roundtable for forming a global peace network and four specialized sessions are planned.

Governor Kim Youngrok stated, "K-democracy, praised worldwide, proves the maturity of Korean democracy rooted in the spirit of Kim Dae-jung. President Lee Jaemyung's philosophy that 'peace is economy, peace is livelihood' aligns with former President Kim Dae-jung's pursuit of joint prosperity through peace. We will thoroughly prepare to ensure that the Kim Dae-jung Peace Conference becomes a venue that embodies this spirit of our times."
