Actor Lee Byunghun will receive a special achievement award at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.
On August 5, the Toronto International Film Festival announced the four recipients of this year's Tribute Awards, which honor individuals who have contributed to the advancement of cinema. Lee Byunghun was named alongside director Guillermo del Toro, director Hikari, and actress Jodie Foster.
The festival organizers stated, "These are individuals who have left a distinct mark on the film industry," adding, "We are delighted to honor Lee Byunghun's overwhelming talent, Guillermo del Toro's vision and imagination, Hikari's emotional storytelling, and Jodie Foster's unparalleled career."
Regarding Lee Byunghun in particular, the festival described him as "a global star who has achieved great success in both Korean and Hollywood films and series."
The Toronto International Film Festival will take place in Toronto, Canada, from September 4 to September 14. The Tribute Awards ceremony will be held on September 7. Director Park Chanwook's new film 'Eojjeolsuga Eopda,' starring Lee Byunghun, will be screened in the North American Gala Premiere section.
