Police: No Explosives Found at Shinsegae Main Branch... Suspect Being Tracked

Thousands of people were urgently evacuated after a bomb threat was posted regarding the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store in Jung-gu, Seoul, but no explosives were found following a police search.

On August 5, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that after deploying 242 personnel, including a special task force, to search the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store for approximately one hour and thirty minutes, no explosives were found.


After completing the search, the police lifted the site control and are currently tracking the suspect's IP address.


Earlier, at around 1:43 p.m. on the same day, a report was filed after a post claiming explosives had been installed inside the main branch of the department store appeared online, leading to the urgent evacuation of 3,000 customers and 1,000 staff and related personnel.
