On this day, Kim's attorneys stated, "Former Minister Kim received notice from the Chae Sangbyeong special prosecutor to appear at 10 a.m. on August 6, but the legal team was only informed of this today." They added, "It is not possible to exercise the right to legal counsel with such short notice, having been notified only one day in advance, so he cannot appear tomorrow."

They further stated, "We request that the investigation be conducted in the detention center, in accordance with standard procedures for those who are incarcerated, and that scheduling be coordinated with the legal team in advance."

Kim Yonghyun is one of the seven people who attended the so-called 'VIP Rage' meeting presided over by former President Yoon Sukyeol on July 31, 2023. The special prosecutor plans to question Kim about the information reported to former President Yoon during the meeting, the instructions given, and the subsequent actions taken in response to the incident.
