Dongnam Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences Holds 'Radiation Disaster Preparedness Week Event'

Experience, Quiz, and Education
Raising Disaster Awareness Together Among Patients and Local Residents

The Radiation Emergency Medical Center at the Dongnam Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences (Director: Lee Changhoon) is holding the "Radiation Emergency Medical Center Week Event" from August 4 to August 7 in the hospital’s first-floor lobby to enhance preparedness for radiation accidents.

This event, now in its third year, aims to promote basic knowledge about radiation, highlight the importance of disaster response, and disseminate guidelines on actions to take in the event of an accident.

On August 4, there were demonstrations on indoor evacuation procedures and an experience program for removing contaminated clothing. On August 5, a radiation disaster OX quiz and a tablet game were held, attracting participation from more than 200 people. On August 6, participants will have a "disaster bag packing" experience, and on August 7, a "protective suit donning and doffing contest" will take place in the main auditorium for those who registered in advance.

One patient who participated said, "Listening to the evacuation instructions and experiencing them firsthand was informative and realistic."

Additionally, a free "life four-cut photo booth" for visitors and staff will be available until August 29, offering an opportunity to create lasting memories.

Center Director Song Juyeon stated, "We will continue to offer a variety of hands-on programs so that both local residents and patients can actively respond to radiation disasters."
