In particular, this agreement focuses on enabling the local community and students to inherit the democratization·peace spirit of the late President Kim Dae-jung and the historical significance of the Student Independence Movement. The Provincial Office of Education and the Mokpo City Sports Council plan to expand participation of local residents and the education community through joint operation, and to realize on-site experiences of history and human rights education through sports events.

They also plan to develop strategies to enhance the efficiency of event management and to increase the value of the marathon as a joint brand. Both organizations will continue to discuss specific operational plans, schedules, and target participants for future events.

An official from the Provincial Office of Education stated, "This agreement is being highlighted as a representative case of the Jeonnam-style cooperation model linking sports and education, and as an example of promoting sports and cultural events with local organizations," adding, "Through sports, it will serve as an opportunity to convey the identity and values of the region, going beyond health and competition."

Superintendent Kim Dae-jung said, "This is a valuable opportunity for students to experience the spirit of democracy, peace, and independence while growing up healthy," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that education becomes a window to the future in partnership with the local community."

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education also plans to expand various physical activities to improve students' health and fitness, and to foster a culture where education, sports, and life coexist through collaboration with local organizations.
