Uiseong County Public Health Administration Gains Attention as a Public Healthcare Model in Cambodia While showing that it is gaining attention beyond borders, it also became an opportunity for the Korean-style public health model to be recognized as an alternative to closing global health disparities. Visit of key medical personnel from Cambodia

On August 5, Uiseong County announced that a training delegation of key Cambodian medical personnel visited the Uiseong County Public Health Center to observe firsthand the operation of community-based public health services and to engage in an exchange of healthcare policies.

This visit was part of North Gyeongsang Province's "Advanced Medical Sharing Promotion Support Project" and was organized by the North Gyeongsang Public Healthcare Support Group.

The training delegation included a total of 12 participants: six doctors and nurses from Kampong Thom Provincial Public Hospital in Cambodia, officials from the North Gyeongsang public healthcare department and medical support division, as well as interpreters.

The delegation experienced the Korean-style public health system through a schedule that included: an explanation of the main health policies and initiatives of the Uiseong County Public Health Center; sharing of customized health service cases for local residents; and tours of key clinics and health promotion facilities.

Lee Sunhee, head of the Uiseong County Public Health Center, personally gave a presentation explaining the center's operational strategies and the resident-centered health management system. She also introduced service examples for vulnerable groups, such as the hypertension and diabetes registration and management project, mobile healthcare, and home visit health services, which received a positive response.

In particular, the delegation showed great interest in Uiseong County's integrated health services in practice, and during the site visit, they actively engaged in Q&A sessions to discuss in detail the possibilities of integrating these practices into their own healthcare systems.

Kim Jusu, Mayor of Uiseong County, stated, "It is meaningful that Uiseong County's public health administration is being introduced to the international community and can contribute to the development of healthcare in developing countries," and added, "We will continue to expand sustainable partnerships in the field of international public healthcare through various health cooperation programs."

This training demonstrated that the practical achievements of the Uiseong County Public Health Center are gaining attention beyond borders, and also served as an opportunity for the Korean public health model to be recognized as an alternative for addressing global health disparities.
