The National Policy Planning Committee announced on the 5th that it has selected the rapid construction of the Presidential Office in Sejong as a priority task to complete the relocation of the administrative capital to Sejong during President Lee Jaemyung's term.
Cho Seungrae, spokesperson for the committee, stated at a regular briefing held at the Government Seoul Annex in Changseong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, "The committee has determined that the Sejong Presidential Office needs to be constructed without delay as the first step toward completing the administrative capital," adding, "We have proposed to the government to promptly begin the procedures for constructing the Sejong office, including a design competition."
Spokesperson Cho added, "Since construction began in 2007, 22 central administrative agencies have relocated to the Multifunctional Administrative City, which is now serving as the center of national administration," and continued, "However, due to ongoing inefficiencies caused by the dual administration between Seoul and Sejong, as well as persistent regional imbalances in the capital area, the need to complete the administrative capital has been raised."
'Shortening the processing period for work-related illnesses' was also selected as a priority task. According to the committee, the average processing period for work-related illnesses last year was 227.7 days. Spokesperson Cho explained, "The plan includes improving the method for handling industrial accident cases to reduce the average processing period to 120 days by 2027."
The committee also plans to collect public opinions on the selection of new police uniforms through the online communication platform 'Moduui Gwangjang' from the 7th to the 12th. Spokesperson Cho said, "Following consultations between the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Police Agency, a request was made to gather opinions on the selection of police uniforms through 'Moduui Gwangjang,'" adding, "The results of the vote and collected opinions will be compiled and delivered to the National Police Agency."
