Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Lee Namcheol) is recruiting participants for a program that subsidizes sports facility usage fees for recipients of the basic pension aged 65 and over.
This program, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, aims to provide opportunities for physical activity to basic pension recipients and support a healthy later life. Those selected as beneficiaries can receive a sports mobile voucher worth 50,000 won per session, up to a maximum of three sessions for a total of 150,000 won.
The application period runs from the 4th to the 13th, and applications can be submitted online through the 'Senior Sports Voucher' website. The vouchers will be distributed to the applicant's mobile phone as early as September and can be used after registering them on the 'Bipple Pay' app at Zero Pay-affiliated sports facilities.
Goryeong County plans to expand the number of affiliated facilities, focusing on public sports centers such as the National Sports Center and the park golf courses in Daegaya-eup and Dasan-myeon, so that seniors can enjoy physical activities more conveniently.
Governor Lee Namcheol stated, "We expect that this program to subsidize sports facility usage fees will contribute to a healthy later life and improved physical fitness for seniors," adding, "We also hope that increased use of sports facilities will have a positive impact on the local economy."
