Vgarage Supplies Drone-Based Inventory Management System to Hyundai Glovis

Achieving 99% Inventory Accuracy
with Vgarage's Autonomous Flight Drone Service at Hyundai Glovis Logistics Center

On August 5, autonomous flight drone startup Vgarage announced that it has enhanced operational efficiency by supplying its autonomous flight drone-based inventory survey automation service to Hyundai Glovis's logistics center.

Vgarage has independently developed and operates a vertically integrated solution that encompasses both hardware and software, including: web-based user software, computer vision software for inventory identification, camera vision-based autonomous flight software, drones, battery packs, and base stations for automatic battery replacement.

In particular, Vgarage's drones feature camera vision-based autonomous flight technology, which enables them to freely conduct inventory surveys in logistics warehouses even in environments where GPS does not function. By integrating their proprietary software, Vgarage has implemented a fully automated inventory survey service.

Hyundai Glovis adopted Vgarage's service in the first half of this year at the integrated logistics center (CC) within Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Ellabell, Georgia, USA, to improve the accuracy of semi-assembled automotive parts inventory and reduce inventory survey time. As a result, Hyundai Glovis was able to quickly identify discrepancies between computerized and physical inventory, achieving an inventory identification accuracy rate of over 99%. In addition, compared to previous manual inspections, inventory survey time was reduced by more than 90%, demonstrating both logistics innovation and operational cost savings. Based on these results, Vgarage plans to further expand its service supply within Hyundai Glovis HMGMA CC.

Kim Youngjun, CEO of Vgarage, stated, "With this supply, our autonomous flight drone service has demonstrated not only the potential to alleviate workforce management burdens but also to enable faster and more accurate inventory surveys." He added, "Going forward, we plan to expand the application areas to indoor facility inspection, indoor and outdoor security, and defense reconnaissance through drone miniaturization and technological advancement."

Meanwhile, Vgarage was founded by CEO Kim Youngjun, who earned a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence autonomous systems research from Stanford University and built his career as a software engineer at Oracle and Google headquarters. The startup currently has bases in both the United States and Korea, and has raised a total accumulated investment of 37.2 billion KRW from investors such as SBVA, LB Investment, and BonAngels Venture Partners, in recognition of its technological capabilities and growth potential.
