Why Goo Bokgyu, Head of Hwasun County, Became the In-house Broadcast Announcer Gubokgyu, the governor of Hwasun County, is preparing to record an internal broadcast. Provided by Hwasun County

Goo Bokgyu, the head of Hwasun County, takes on the role of in-house broadcast announcer at the end of every month.

The reason Goo personally takes the microphone is to promote a culture of integrity among employees. The broadcast is aired just before employees leave work on the last day of each month.

On July 31, Goo hosted his first in-house broadcast titled "Stories of Integrity Told by Goo Bokgyu" (hereafter referred to as "Stories of Integrity"). On this day, Goo was praised for sharing small anecdotes from his public service career, the lessons he learned, and the importance of integrity in a comfortable, conversational manner with employees.

Kang Mijin, an official in the Autonomous Administration Division, said, "I was surprised to suddenly hear the county head's voice on the in-house broadcast, which made me pay even closer attention," and added, "It was a meaningful time at the end of the day to reflect once again on the meaning of integrity and the attitude public officials should have."

Goo Bokgyu stated, "Integrity is the strongest force that protects ourselves," and emphasized, "I will continue to enhance all employees' commitment to practicing integrity through various initiatives in which the county head personally participates."

Meanwhile, the content of the broadcast will be uploaded to an internal anonymous bulletin board called "Stories of Integrity," and future broadcasts will be composed on various topics such as the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, and the prevention of abuse of power, reflecting employees' opinions.
