On August 4, Democratic Party leader Jung Cheongrae stated, "Among the three major reforms?prosecution, media, and judiciary?we plan to prioritize and process the three broadcasting laws related to media reform."
During his public remarks at the Democratic Party's general assembly held at the National Assembly that day, Jung said, "The Yellow Envelope Act (the amendment to Articles 2 and 3 of the Trade Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act), the Commercial Act, the Grain Management Act, and the Act on Distribution and Price Stabilization of Agricultural and Fishery Products (the Agricultural Products Act), all of which have been submitted to the plenary session, serve as safety devices to protect the lives of the people." He added, "Today must be the starting point for restoring collapsed democracy and reigniting the recovery and growth of the Republic of Korea."

Regarding the results of the party convention, Jung said, "I believe the party members and the public have given us two mandates. The first is to open an era of party member sovereignty that matches the era of popular sovereignty." He continued, "I will spare no effort to ensure that the voices of the members of the National Assembly and the party members are aligned and reflected."
He also stated, "The historical mandate and demand of this era is to root out and eradicate the forces of insurrection as soon as possible," adding, "I believe it is a historical task that party members and lawmakers must unite and accomplish to fulfill our historical mission without shame before history and the nation."
Meanwhile, regarding the party convention, he said, "In order for the Democratic Party to become stronger, above all else, first, second, and third, we must unite," and added, "Whether you supported Park Chandae or Jung Cheongrae, we are one family, one group."
