Jeong Cheongrae Vows to Build Unified Party, Government, and Presidential Office... Woo Sangho Says "President Lee Received Most Support from Jeong as Party Leader"

On August 4, Jeong Cheongrae, the newly appointed leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, met with Woo Sangho, Senior Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs. Both Jeong and Woo pledged to work towards making the party and the government a "one team."

On this day at the National Assembly, Jeong received a courtesy visit from Woo. During the meeting, Jeong stated, "Immediately after the party convention, President Lee Jaemyung personally called to encourage me and asked me to do well," and added, "The President said he hopes the party, government, and presidential office will function as a one team, with each fulfilling their respective roles effectively."

He continued, "Just as the party became a one team with then-party leader Lee Jaemyung over the past three years to overcome the crisis and launch the new Lee Jaemyung administration, I will now, as the ruling party leader, take the initiative and act responsibly and prudently to create a unified party, government, and presidential office."

Woo stated, "President Lee recalled that when he was party leader, Jeong was the supreme council member who provided him with the most support," and added, "I believe we will work in close harmony and demonstrate a united party, government, and presidential office." He continued, "On a personal level, we are comrades and have been political allies for 20 years," and said, "Having overcome many difficulties together to reach this point, I am confident that Jeong will wisely lead the party." He added, "Whenever big or small issues arise, we will consult with each other and strive to work as a one team."
