Daejeon Metro, the only urban rail system in Korea equipped with air conditioning systems in both all station concourses and platforms, has decided to operate the cooling facilities at all stations and trains to the maximum extent possible within available capacity in response to the ongoing heatwave advisory.

In particular, Daejeon Transportation Corporation plans to efficiently adjust the ventilation systems in station concourses and platforms by time of day and increase cooling intensity, focusing on the Jungangno to Junggu Office Station section, where large crowds are expected during the "Zero Hour Festival" period starting on August 8.

Moon Jonggan, General Control Room Director, stated, "When a heatwave warning is issued, the control room monitors customer conditions in real time, and through on-site communication systems between train operators, station staff, and air conditioning teams, cooling and ventilation facilities are activated immediately."

For citizens wishing to enjoy the train's air conditioning more effectively, the center of the train car is the coolest area, while the ends near the priority seats for the transportation disadvantaged are relatively warmer. This is because the cool air is dispersed from the central aisle, and outside air enters as the train doors open every 1 to 2 minutes.

Yeon Gyuyang, President of Daejeon Transportation Corporation, said, "To ensure that citizens can use the metro safely and comfortably, we are operating cooling facilities at maximum capacity and all staff are thoroughly managing the sites during the heatwave advisory period." He added, "We hope you create many pleasant memories by enjoying a comfortable and enjoyable journey on the metro during the Daejeon Zero Hour Festival."
