Hyundai and Kia Achieve 10 Consecutive Months of Sales Growth
K4 Surpasses 10,000 Units Sold for 7 Straight Months
Despite the impact of tariffs, Hyundai Motor and Kia achieved double-digit sales growth in the United States last month.
On August 4, Hyundai Motor and Kia announced that their combined U.S. sales in July reached 157,353 units, up 13.2% from the same period last year. Hyundai Motor sold 86,230 units, a 14.4% increase, while Kia sold 71,123 units, an 11.9% rise compared to the previous year.
The Hyundai Santa Fe (14,128 units) saw a 57.2% increase in sales compared to the same period last year, while the Palisade (13,235 units) rose by 53.5%, with SUV (RV) models leading overall sales. Including Genesis, sales increased for the tenth consecutive month on a year-over-year basis.
For Kia, the new K4 (11,118 units) recorded monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units for seven consecutive months. The Carnival (5,928 units) and Soul (4,665 units) saw year-over-year sales increases of 30.1% and 36.1%, respectively.
Genesis sold 6,687 units, up 8% from the same period last year. The GV70 (2,873 units) and G70 (1,120 units) were key contributors to sales.
Hyundai Motor and Kia sold 40,850 eco-friendly vehicles, a 42.6% increase compared to July of last year. The share of eco-friendly vehicles in Hyundai Motor and Kia's total U.S. sales stands at 26%.
Sales of hybrid models reached 28,733 units, a 48.2% increase from the previous year. Hyundai Motor sold 16,842 units, up 36.4%, while Kia sold 11,891 units, up 68.9%.
For electric vehicles, Hyundai Motor sold 8,431 units, a 72.7% increase year-over-year, while Kia sold 3,686 units, a 15.7% decrease. The IONIQ 9 (1,073 units) and IONIQ 5 (5,818 units) led electric vehicle sales.
By model, Hyundai Motor's top sellers were the Tucson (16,406 units), Palisade, and Avante (12,354 units). For Kia, the best-selling models were the Sportage (14,392 units), K4, and Telluride (10,411 units).
